Tirunesh Dibaba sets world record in 5000m

Ethiopia's Tirunesh Dibaba just set the world record in the women's 5000 meters at tonight's Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway, running 14:11.15.

Countrywoman Meseret Defar set the old record of 14:16.63 last year at Bislett Stadium.

You can watch the meet here...

It is the 54th world record set at Bislett Stadium since 1924 and the first since one of track's most famous venues was rebuilt four years ago.

This makes Meseret Defar's chase for the world record at Sunday's Nike Prefontaine Classic even more interesting...don't forget, will have coverage of the Pre Classic!
