"Hot Links" for Wednesday morning...

Here's some interesting links as we scour the 'net for track and field stories:

*Lopez Lomong (left/photo by Paul Merca), who will run the 1500 meters, was selected Wednesday by the US Olympic Committee to carry the flag at the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics on Friday. Here's the USA Track & Field release, and the blog post from Juliet Macur of the New York Times...

*Yet another story on pole vaulter Brad Walker, this time from the Journal Newspapers, a monthly publication which serves north Seattle and Snohomish county. paulmerca.blogspot.com contributed to the story with the photo of Brad's American record jump from the Nike Prefontaine Classic...

* A story on former University of Washington track coach Orin Richburg from the Las Cruces (NM) Sun-News, who is in China working as one of the relay coaches for USA Track & Field...

*Finally, a release from Washington State University on incoming freshman Shawn Swartz from Coquitlam, British Columbia, who won the Canadian junior title in the high jump almost two weeks ago...
