Lagat, Powell & Måkestad set to run in DN Galan meet in Stockholm...

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--Bernard Lagat, Ginnie Powell and Ingvill Måkestad are among the participants in Friday's DN Galan Super Grand Prix track & field meet at the Olympic Stadium in the Swedish capital.

Lagat, the reigning world champion in the 1500 and 5000 meter runs, will drop down and run the 1000 meters, where he has a personal best of 2:16.18, set last year in Gateshead, England. The former Washington State Cougar face a field that includes world championship teammate Leo Manzano and 2008 world indoor 800 meter champion Abubaker Kaki of Sudan.

Powell ran a season best of 12.70 on Tuesday in finishing fifth in the 100 hurdles at the Herculis meet in Monte Carlo. The Rainier Beach HS graduate will run in the second of two heats in a field that includes Olympic bronze medalist Priscilla Lopes-Shliep of Canada, and American Lolo Jones.

Former Washington Husky Måkestad will run in the women's 1500 meter run where she is vying to dip under the IAAF "B" standard of 4:09.00. Måkestad ran a personal best of 4:09.62 in Heusden, Belgium on July 18th.

The DN Galan Super Grand Prix will be streamed live on UniversalSports.com Friday beginning at 9:45 am pacific/12:45 pm eastern time.
