PORTLAND--Federal Way's Aretha Thurmond finished second behind 2008 Olympic gold medalist Stephanie Brown Trafton at the World Championships preview meet Saturday at the Mac Wilkins Throws Center at Concordia College in Portland, Oregon.

Brown Trafton threw 208-0 (63.40m) compared with Thurmond's mark of 200-7 (61.14 m).

In the men's discus competition, former University of Washington standout and Olympic Trials finalist Will Conwell finished second with a throw of 182-8 behind Lance Brooks of Illinois, who threw 191-5.

The meet, which was held in conjunction with a throwing clinic for athletes throughout the Pacific Northwest, was organized by 1976 Olympic discus champion Mac Wilkins.
