Kara Patterson set to compete Wednesday in Kawasaki...

USA Track & Field reported in its release Tuesday that Vancouver native Kara Patterson (left/photo by Paul Merca) will compete in the Super Track & Field Meet on Wednesday in Kawasaki, Japan.

Patterson, a 2008 Olympian and a member of this year's world championship team, will compete in the javelin. This will be her first meet since the world championships in Berlin, where she didn't make the finals.

Patterson is one of two foreigners named on the start list for Wednesday's meet.

The Purdue University alum and two-time USA national champion is also scheduled to compete in Friday's Colorful Daegu Pre-Championships Meeting in Daegu, South Korea at the venue for the 2011 IAAF World Track & Field Championships.

USATF reports that Seattle native Ginnie Powell, the sixth place finisher in last month's world championships is entered in the meet; however, she does not appear in the current start list.
