Patterson sixth in Daegu, South Korea...

DAEGU, South Korea--Vancouver's Kara Patterson (left/photo by Paul Merca), fresh off a victory two days ago in Kawasaki, Japan, finished sixth in the javelin at the Colorful Daegu Pre-Championships Meeting in the Korean city.

The 2009 world championships team member threw the spear 53.10 meters (174-2) on her first attempt, which was her only fair mark of the competition, as she fouled her other three throws.

Russia's Maria Abakumova, the bronze medalist in Berlin last month, won the competition with a first round throw of 66.37 meters (217-9), and had two other marks over the 60-meter mark that would have won the competition.
