Washington women drop to 13th in latest USTFCCCA cross country poll...

Coming off a sixth place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday October 1st, the University of Washington women's cross country team, which was ranked third for the first few weeks of the season, dropped to #13 in the most recent USTFCCCA national poll released Tuesday.

Defending national champion Villanova stayed as the nation's number one squad thanks to its victory at the Notre Dame Invite, securing all twelve first place votes.

Among Pac-10 teams, Oregon jumped from fifth to second, while Arizona jumped to sixth from ninth.

Stanford is the only other Pac-10 school in the current top 30.

Former Husky Kendra Schaaf, now attending the University of North Carolina. was named ACC Performer of the Week after she took fourth at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational over the weekend, running 20:20 over the 6k course.

Finally, former Washington Husky Mike Sayenko is listed as one of the elite invited runners for Sunday's Bank of America Chicago Marathon.  Another former Husky, Jake Schmitt, is also expected to make his marathon debut in Chicago.
