JOENSUU, Finland--University of Washington alum Norris Frederick (left/photo by Paul Merca) finished third in the long jump Wednesday at the Joensuu Games in the Finnish city.

Frederick jumped 25-3 1/4 (7.70m) on his sixth and final attempt, as former IAAF world championships bronze medalist Tommi Evilä's first round jump of 25-7 1/2 (7.81m) held up for a one-centimeter victory over South Africa's reigning world junior champ Luvo Manyonga (25-7 1/4).

In Jockgrim, Germany, former Husky Brad Walker's woes continued, as he failed to clear a height at the Jockgrim Street Vault, an event in which he holds the meet record.

Walker missed all three attempts at the opening height of 17-8 1/2 (5.40m).

Germany's Karsten Dilla took the victory at 18-9 1/4 (5.72m), a height cleared by five other athletes in the 14-man field.
