BOZEMAN, Montana--After the first day of competition in the Big Sky Conference decathlon, Eastern Washington senior Kersee Lind (left/photo courtesy Eastern Washington University) from Hermiston, Oregon stands eighth with a score of 3530 points, as Montana State's Jeff Mohl leads after five events with 4097 points.
Lind ran the 100 in 11.81, then followed up with a long jump of 22-8 (6.91m), and a throw in the shot put of 34-7 (10.54m).
He had a solid effort in the high jump, clearing 6-6 (1.98m), and ended the day by running 51.51 in the 400.
Eagle teammates Tim Armstrong and Warren Miller are in ninth and tenth with 3453 and 3281 points, respectively.
The decathlon resumes Thursday as Lind looks to improve upon his sixth place finish in last year's meet.
Eastern Washington has no competitors in the Big Sky heptathlon competition.

CRAWFORD WINS IN CAYMAN ISLANDS…
Rainier Beach HS alum Ginnie Crawford won the 100 meter hurdles Wednesday at the Cayman Invitational track meet at the Bodden Sports Complex on the Cayman Islands.
Crawford took the victory in 12.66, edging out Kristin Castlin by 2/100ths of a second.
