Jeshua Anderson & Brad Walker get second in outdoor debuts in Sydney...

SYDNEY, Australia--Former Washington State University standout Jeshua Anderson (left/photo by Paul Merca) opened his 2013 outdoor season with a second place finish in the 400 hurdles at the Sydney Track Classic at the Sydney Olympic Park.

Anderson, who was a member of Team USA at the 2011 IAAF world championships in Daegu, but had a disappointing season last year, ran 50.56 to finish behind New Zealand's Michael Cochrane, who ran 50.07 for the win.

In the men's pole vault, University of Washington grad Brad Walker finished in a tie for second with 2008 Olympic champion Steve Hooker, as both jumped 17-8 1/2 (5.40m), to finish behind Great Britain's Steve Lewis, who cleared 18-2 1/2 (5.55m).

Walker has been jumping off of a short approach in his first few meets as he refines his run up in the early part of the season.
