Nielsen advances to World University Games javelin final...

KAZAN, Russia--University of Washington alum Kyle Nielsen (left/image courtesy russiasport.ru) qualified for Wednesday's finals in the men's javelin Monday morning at the World University Games.

Nielsen, this year's Canadian national champion,  threw a best of 233-11 (71.31m) on his third attempt of the day, a mark that was fifth overall in his flight and tenth best overall.

Wednesday's finals will consist of 13 men, all of whom threw over the 70-meter (229-8) automatic qualifying mark.
