The Michigan Track Classic is the brainchild of New Zealand's Nick Willis, the 2008 Olympic silver medalist. He started this meet last year when he decided to stay at home instead of leaving his wife and four-week old son to chase races on the international circuit. Willis, who resides in the state of Michigan, helped recruit many of the athletes in the field.
