It's the 2019 NCAA indoor championship weekend in Divisions I and II...
The nation’s top collegiate track and field athletes head to the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, and Pittsburg, Kansas for the NCAA Division I and II indoor track and field championships, with the two-day meet starting on Friday.
DIVISION I
The University of Washington will have ten athletes and seven entries heading to Birmingham.
Among those making their first appearance in the NCAA indoor championships for the Huskies include Izzi Batt-Doyle (left/photo by Paul Merca) in the women’s 5000; Fred Huxham in the men’s 3000; Hannah Derby and Imani Apostol in the women’s distance medley relay; and, Cass Elliott, Devan Kirk & Connor Morello in the men’s distance medley relay.
Batt-Doyle, Huxham, and Apostol have appeared in the NCAA championships before, either in cross country or outdoor track.
They’ll be joined by NCAA undercover vets Katie Rainsberger (DMR, mile, 3000), Lilli Burdon (DMR) and Mick Stanovsek (mile).
Washington State’s Emmanuel Wells (60) and Paul Ryan (mile) are Washington State’s two entries.
Mountlake Terrace HS grad Chinne Okoronkwo, who transferred from Wisconsin to Texas Tech, is in the pole vault and the triple jump, while Colbert native John Dressel of Colorado is in the 5000m field.
This year's championship events will be available to live stream via ESPN3. Day 1 event streaming will begin at 3:30 pm Pacific March 8 with Day 2 coverage beginning 2 p.m. Pacific March 9.
A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 7 p.m. Pacific time Sunday, March 10 on ESPN2 and again Monday, March 11 starting at 7 p.m. Pacific time on ESPNU.

DIVISION II
USTFCCCA West Regional field event athletes of the 2019 indoor season Kodiak Landis of Central Washington (left/photo by Paul Merca) and Scout Cai of Seattle Pacific are the top entries from the state’s Division II schools heading to Pittsburg, Kansas at the Robert W. Plaster Center, home of the Pittsburg State Gorillas. Pittsburg State and Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau join as co-hosts for the event.
Central Washington will have four women in the meet competing in five events, led by distance runner Alexa Shindruk, who is in both the 3000 and 5000.
Joining her are Halle Irvine in the pole vault, HarLee Ortega in the pentathlon, and Mariyah Vongsaveng in the 60 hurdles.
In addition to Cai, who is contesting the pentathlon and the pole vault, Seattle Pacific will send Peace Igbonagwam in the long jump, and Kate Lilly in the mile.
Western Washington’s two women’s entries are pole vaulter Anna Paradee, and high jumper Maddie Taylor.
Landis and Braydon Maier will represent Central Washington in the heptathlon, while triple jumper Zach Whittaker rounds out the Wildcats heading to Pittsburg.
Saint Martin’s high jumper Tyler Cronk is the Saints’ lone entry in the championships.
The NCAA Division II championships will be live streamed via NCAA.com Friday and Saturday beginning at 7 am, Pacific.
