Group of four compete in Sunday's Music City Track Carnival...

A small group of athletes with Washington ties heads to Nashville for Sunday's Music City Track Carnival, which is part of the American Track League circuit.

Former Pullman resident Katie Nageotte, who won the Doha Diamond League meet on May 28th with a clearance of 15-10.5 (4.84m) is looking to stay sharp as she prepares for the US Olympic Trials pole vault competition on June 24th (qualifying) and 26th (finals).

Nageotte's training partner and West Seattle HS grad Chloe Cunliffe (Paul Merca photo), in contrast, looks to get the Olympic Trials qualifying mark of 15-1 (4.60m), though as of June 1st, she was ranked 21st on the descending order list according to Flotrack.

Cunliffe's best mark since the qualifying period opened for the Olympic Trials is 14-9 (4.50m) set indoors in March 2019, which currently ranks her in a tie for 21st. The minimum field requirement USA Track & Field has for the pole vault is 24 competitors.

Like Nageotte, Washington State alum CJ Allen is looking to sharpen up for the Trials, though he currently does not hold the Olympic standard of 48.90 in the 400 hurdles, with his best 49.32 from July 2019.

For Tacoma native Marcus Chambers, it's pretty simple--Chambers must run sub 45.30 (45.20 is the automatic Trials standard) to have a shot at competing at the Trials.

According to Flotrack, 24 athletes have gone under the automatic Trials standard, while USA Track & Field's minimum requirements to run three rounds in the 400 is 28 athletes.

ESPN2 will televise the Music City Track Carnival from 2-4 pm, Pacific time.

Washington alum Izzi Batt-Doyle looks for the Olympic standard of 31:25.00 in Sunday's Fanny Blankers-Koen meeting in Hengelo, Netherlands at 6:10 am, Pacific time.

Batt-Doyle and fellow Australian Rose Davies are in a field that includes reigning world champion Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, and formerly of the now-disbanded Nike Oregon Project.

Meanwhile, fellow Washington alum Amy-Eloise Markovc finished fifth in the European Cup 10000 meter race Saturday in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Markovc ran 32:04.19, well over the 31:25.91 she ran in Irvine last month.
