Beasts' Brannon Kidder wins American Track League 800m in Mission Viejo...


MISSION VIEJO, California--
Brannon Kidder (Paul Merca photo) of the Seattle based Brooks Beasts won the invitational 800 meters at the American Track League meet Sunday afternoon at Trabuco Hills HS in southern California.

Kidder, competing in his second race after the US Olympic Trials, won in a time of 1:45.26, just off of his 2021 best of 1:45.08 set in the finals of the Trials race last month.

Beasts teammate Drew Windle was sixth in 1:51.02.

Nia Akins of the Beasts finished second in the women's 800 in 2:01.41, as Sinclaire Johnson of the Nike Bowerman TC won in 2:00.63.

At the Under Armour Sound Running Sunset Tour Sunday night, which was also contested at Trabuco Hills HS, David Ribich of the Beasts finished fourth in the 1500 meters in a personal best 3:36.70, as Colby Alexander won in 3:33.65.

Current Seattle resident Tripp Hurt was fifth in 3:37.61, while former Puyallup resident Hassan Mead was eighth in 3:42.76.

The women's mile saw Karisa Nelson of the Beasts finish fourth in a personal best 4:30.10, just ahead of Washington alum Mel Lawrence, who also ran a personal best 4:30.95.

Taryn Rawlngs got the victory in 4:28.93.

Garrett Heath of the Beasts finished second in the mile, running 3:57.49, as he was nosed out by Daniel Herrera of Mexico in 3:57.40.

BATT-DOYLE WINS 5000M AT MOTONET GP IN LAPINLAHTI...

In her final tuneup race, Washington alum Izzi Batt-Doyle won the 5000 meters at the Motonet Grand Prix stop in Lapinlahti, Finland Saturday.

Batt-Doyle set a meet record, running 15:16.19, defeating fellow Australian Rose Davies by over 16 seconds, as Davies ran 15:32.30.

NAGEOTTE GETS FOOD POISONING IN OLYMPIC RUN-UP...

In an Instagram post Sunday, former Pullman resident Katie Nageotte revealed that she's battled a case of food poisoning upon returning home from the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco on July 9th.

"I’m feeling better thank God, but it was a rough few days filled with a fever, a trip to the ER, and more bathroom visits than there are hours in a day."

"To top it off, I had a bad allergic reaction to the antibiotics prescribed to me. Not exactly the plan we had for my last couple weeks of preparation, but I’m definitely feeling better and, thankfully the work was done months ago."
