Bernard Lagat tows three Americans to world championships "A" standard in Paris...
PARIS, France--Washington State University alum Bernard Lagat (left/photo by Paul Merca) finished third in the men's 1500 meter run at the Meeting Areva, part of the season-long Samsung Diamond League, at the Stade de France in the Paris suburb of St. Denis.
Lagat ran a season best time of 3:33.11 to finish behind winner Amine Laalou of Morocco(3:32.15) and defending Olympic champion Asbel Kiprop of Kenya (3:33.04).
In the process, Lagat, who stated at the recent USA championships that he would skip the 1500 and concentrate on the 5000 at next month's world championships in Daegu, South Korea, pulled Leo Manzano (3:33.66), Andrew Wheating (3:34.39), and Matthew Centrowitz (3:34.69) under the IAAF "A" standard for the world championships.
