Both Redhawk DMRs earn podium finish at WAC Indoor Champs; Seattle Pacific hosts Last Chance meet Saturday...
In Nampa, Idaho, both Seattle University distance medley relay teams earned third place finishes at the Western Athletic Conference indoor track and field championships at Jacksons Track.
The Redhawk men’s squad (above/photo courtesy Seattle University Athletics) consisting of sophomore Nathan Pixler, freshman Stewart Keene, senior Eli Boudouris and senior Jacques Hebert, ran 10:23.33 to get on the podium, as Utah Valley (10:17.77) and Grand Canyon (10:19.27) took the top two spots.
In the women’s DMR, the team of freshman Marie-Therese Chahrouri, senior Caylah Lunning, junior Siobhan Rubio and freshman Ellie Postma ran 12:20.49, as Utah Valley (12:13.31) and Grand Canyon (12:15.74) again took the first two places on the podium.
Other highlights:
—Three women qualified for the finals in their events Friday night: junior Siobhan Rubio (2:15.44) and freshman Ellie Postma (2:16.94), who shaved almost three and a half seconds from her previous personal best in the event. The other female qualifier, junior Michelle Newblom, had a 60m hurdles time of 8.93, a new school record, to place her among the race’s top finishers;
— Jacques Hebert finished first in his heat and second overall in the men’s indoor mile at 4:18.59, earning him a spot in the finals. Nathan Pixler (1:55.78) also had a first-place finish in his 800m heat, while Stewart Keene joined him in the finals with a time of 1:55.20. Freshman Isaiah Payne was able to grab the last available spot in tomorrow’s 200m dash, running a 22.07 in the preliminaries and reaching a personal best.

SPU HOSTS LAST CHANCE MEET AFTER MPSF CHAMPIONSHIPS
Seattle Pacific will host the SPU Last Chance meet Saturday, beginning at 5:15 pm.
The meet will be on a rolling schedule in that as soon as one event is completed, the next one will follow immediately, both on the track and in the field.
The meet is for athletes who are either on the cusp of posting an NCAA qualifying mark, or who already have a mark, but are seeking to move higher up the list, enhancing their chances of getting into nationals.
