At the USATF LA Grand Prix at Drake Stadium on the campus of UCLA, Brandon Miller (Paul Merca photo) & Isaiah Harris of the Seattle based Brooks Beasts track club both got their Olympic standards in the 800 meters out of the way with a fourth and place finish Saturday afternoon.

In a very competitive 800 race, Miller, a former Texas A&M standout who joined the Beasts after training in Los Angeles under Bobby Kersee, ran a personal best of 1:44.24, and in the process, pulled teammate and 2023 Budapest world championships competitor Isaiah Harris under the Olympic standard, running 1:44.58.

Kyle Langford of the Beasts was ninth in 1:46.18.

Bryce Hoppel, who is the early favorite in the event at next month's US Olympic Trials, won in a season best 1:43.68.

The men's 1500 saw Henry Wynne of the Beasts finish fourth in 3:35.24, while Seattle resident Sam Prakel was sixth in 3:35.52. Both were season bests.

Australia's Olli Hoare won the event in 3:34.73.

Washington alum Gianna Woodruff was eighth in the women's 400 hurdles, running 57.46, as USC alum Anna Cockrell won in 53.75.

Friday night's portion of the USATF LA Grand Prix, which incorporated parts of the old USATF Distance Carnival, saw Washington alum Sam Ellis win the C section of the men's 800 in 1:47.09.

In the B section of the men's steeple, Washington alum Aaron Ahl was fifth in 8:32.56.

The C section of the women's 1500 saw Washington alum Eleanor Fulton finish third in 4:10.85, while Marta Pen Freitas (4:11.99) and Rebecca Mehra (4:12.56) of the Brooks Beasts were sixth and seventh, all in season bests.  

In the B section, Washington alum Anna Gibson was ninth in 4:08.06, just behind former Beast Laurie Barton's 4:07.68. Both marks were personal bests.

Allie Buchalski of the Beasts was fifth in the women's 5000, running a season best 15:01.75 to knock out her US Olympic Trials qualifying mark.

Lake Washington HS alum Dillon Maggard of the Brooks Beasts finished 12th in the B section of the men's 5000, clocking 13:22.94 to get the Olympic Trials standard.

Olympia native Brooke Feldmeier was eighth in the C section of the women's 800 in 2:04.27, and Washington alum Kayley DeLay of the Brooks Beasts was 13th in 9:46.71 in the top section of the women's 3000 steeplechase.
