Saint Martin's head coach Julie Sullivan steps down...


LACEY - Head cross country and track & field coach Julie Sullivan (left/photo courtesy SMU Sports Information) has stepped down from her position at Saint Martin's University as announced Wednesday by athletic director Bob Grisham.

"I am appreciative of Julie's hard work and respect the professionalism with which she approached her position and programs. She has definitely helped to move the track and cross country programs in the right direction," said Grisham.

Sullivan leaves the program having served as the head cross country coach for seven seasons and head track & field coach for six seasons. At the helm she had three nationals qualifiers each in cross country and outdoor track & field and an outdoor track & field All-American. 

She also coached John Riak during her tenure who won both the GNAC and NCAA West Regional cross country championships in 2007 and was named regional and conference athlete of the year.

Current assistant track & field coach Chad Colwell was named interim head coach and replaces Sullivan immediately.
