Husky senior Katie Follett added to The Bowerman watch list...

NEW ORLEANS – Washington’s Katie Follett was added to The Bowerman women’s watch list The Bowerman Women’s Watch Committee announced in conjunction with the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday. In addition, Colorado’s Emma Coburn and LSU’s LaTavia Thomas are on the award’s receiving mention list.

Follett clocked a collegiate-leading 1500-meter time of 4:10.66 in winning at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 17, besting Seattle Pacific’s Jessica Pixler (4:11.06) in a come-from-behind effort. Her time is the best in Division I by over two seconds and is the sixth best in world this year.

Follett joins Washington State junior Jeshua Anderson on The Bowerman watch list, which tracks the top collegiate track and field athletes as they vie for this prestigious trophy, named after former University of Oregon track coach and Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman.

In collegiate track & field circles, The Bowerman trophy is the equivalent of football's Heisman Trophy or basketball's Wooden Award.

Oregon's Galen Rupp and Colorado's Jenny Barringer were the recipients of the initial Bowerman Award.
