Western Washington opens 2012 harrier campaign Friday at CWU Invite in Ellensburg...
ELLENSBURG--The nationally ranked Western Washington men's and women's cross country squads open the 2012 season Friday when they travel to Ellensburg to compete in the Central Washington University Invitational at West Ellensburg Park.
The Vikings open the season ranked #10 in the USTFCCCA men's poll, while the women's team opens the season ranked #13 in the national Division II poll.
The race begins at 5 pm with the women's 4k race, followed 45 minutes later by the men's 6k race.
The CWU Invitational is also the season opener for the host Wildcats.
Both the Wildcats and the Vikings will compete in the Sundodger Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington on September 15th at Lincoln Park.
In a street vault competition in Aachen, Germany, Mountlake Terrace's Brad Walker finished in a tie for seventh with a jump of 17-1 (5.21m), as Germany's Björn Otto jumped a world leading mark of 19-8 1/2 (6.01m) and become the 18th man in history to clear 6 meters (19-8 1/4) or better.
