Busy weekend ahead for collegians and pros alike with meets in Idaho, Texas, New York & Boston...

Indoor track and field action resumes Thursday as Central Washington, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga and Washington State all head to Moscow for the Idaho Open at the Kibbie Dome hosted by the University of Idaho.

Action gets underway at 9 am on the field, and at 11 am for the first running event, the men's 5000 meters.

Those schools--all of whom competed last Saturday in Seattle at the UW Indoor Preview and in the case of Washington State, sent a squad of athletes to the Bronco Invitational in Nampa, Idaho--look to improve upon their performances last week.

At last week's UW Indoor Preview, Washington State's Colton Johnsen (left/photo by Paul Merca) moved to the top of the NCAA indoor descending order list in the men's 3000, after winning the event out of the second heat, nipping fellow Cougar Paul Ryan, the winner of the first section by 1/100th of a second (8:00.71 to 8:00.72).

Ryan, who is out of indoor eligibility but has outdoor track remaining, competed at the Husky meet as an unattached athlete.

At the time of this post, the University of Idaho did not post start lists. The meet will be streamed via the Big Sky Conference's web site.

Washington State will send a group of athletes to Lubbock, Texas for Friday's Red Raider Invitational, hosted by Texas Tech University, while Western Washington will send heptathlete Seren Dances to Nampa, Idaho for the two-day Ed Jacoby Invitational hosted by Boise State University.

On the professional side, Sam Prakel (above/photo by Paul Merca), who is a volunteer coach at the University of Washington, and the Brooks Beasts' David Ribich are entered in Saturday's Norbert Sander Columbia Challenge at the Armory in New York in the 3000 meter run.

Washington alum Amy-Eloise Neale is entered in the women's 3000, while current Husky freshman Carley Thomas makes her indoor debut as one of three collegians in the field of pros over 800 meters.

Thomas is in a field headed by American 800 meter record holder and two-time world indoor championships silver medalist Ajee' Wilson.

The meet will be streamed on NBC Sports Gold ($).

Start lists for the Norbert Sander Columbia Challenge are available here.

Also Saturday, Washington alums Izaic Yorks and Katie Mackey of the Brooks Beasts are entered in the men's 3000 and women's two mile at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix at the Reggie Lewis Center just outside of Boston.

The meet, which is the opening meet of the World Athletics Indoor Tour, will be televised by NBCSN live from 3-5 pm Pacific time and on NBC Sports Gold ($).

The start lists for the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix is available here.

On the other side of Boston, Olympia native Brooke Feldmeier is entered in the women's 800 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University against a predominantly collegiate field.

Start lists for the meet aren't available, but the performance lists are posted here.
