Huskies split for a pair of meets on opposite ends of the country...

The University of Washington track & field teams head off to different parts of the country during the spring break portion of the season, as the 2021 outdoor track & field season gets fully going.

After a small group competed at last week's Doris Heritage Track Classic across town at West Seattle Stadium, the majority of the team's sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers and throwers will converge Wednesday afternoon at Drake Stadium in Los Angeles for the Jim Bush Legends meet, featuring teams from UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and host UCLA.

The group includes multi event specialists Ida Eiking (photo by Paul Merca), All-American Hannah Rusnak, NCAA qualifier Lyndsey Lopes, and conference scorers Ollie Thorner & Parker Kennedy.

2019 Pac-12 discus champion Elijah Mason leads the throws squad into LA along with All-Americans Jonah Wilson & Jayden White, and indoor shot put school record holder Makayla Kelby.

The sprint group is headed by a trio of All-Americans in 400 hurdler Darhian Mills, 400 meter runner Olivia Ribera, and hurdler Julian Body.

Meanwhile, the distance crew heads to Raleigh, North Carolina for the three-day Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State at the Paul Derr Track Facility with at least 70 schools represented.

All of Washington's entries will be spread amongst the 800-meters, 1500-meters, 5000-meters, and 10,000-meters, with several athletes initially entered in multiple events. Thursday will feature the men's 1500-meters, the men's 5000-meters, and the women's 10,000-meters. Then Friday will reverse that, with the women's 1500- and 5000-meters, and the men's 10k races. Saturday will wrap up with 800-meter competition.

The start list for Wednesday's Jim Bush Legends meet is available here, while the start list for the Raleigh Relays are available here.
