Parker Bowden breaks EWU school record in 110 HH for third straight week in Missoula...

MISSOULA, Montana--
For the third straight week, Eastern Washington's Parker Bowden (photo courtesy EWU Athletics) broke the school record in the 110 high hurdles at the Al Manuel Northwest Invitational meet hosted by the University of Montana at Dornblaser Field.

Taking a page from the great Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka's propensity for breaking the world record one centimeter at a time, Bowden took it down to 13.87 with a +1.6 trailing wind, 2/100ths faster than what he ran last week at Whitworth University in Spokane.

"His race was a very good show for everyone who attended the meet," said Eastern men's head coach Stan Kerr.

With many schools starting up the outdoor season over the last two weekends, Bowden's mark is currently the number ten time on the NCAA Division I descending order list.

Other Eagle highlights in the men's competition included a sweep of the top three spots by Jonah Mathews (10.54, all NWI), Joe Gauthier (10.70) and Daniel Gaik (10.76) in the 100 meters; a win by Justin Roosma (9:19.10) in the 3000 steeple; and Bobby Say's victory in the triple jump (47-6.5/14.75m).

The Eagles' Morgan Fossen took over the conference lead in the pole vault, as she won the event with a clearance of 13-0.25 (3.97m), as EWU vaulters took three of the top four spots.

"Morgan Fossen led the field events with a personal record and team-leading mark in the pole vault," mentioned women's head coach Marcia Mecklenburg.

Faith Kennedy and Katie Petsch rode a +2.6 wind to go 1-2 in the 200, with Kennedy running 25.62, and Petsch 25.58, as they took four of the top five spots.
