Kara Winger wins Tucson Elite javelin over fellow US Olympian Ariana Ince...
TUCSON--Vancouver native Kara Winger (Paul Merca photo) won the javelin Thursday night at the Tucson Elite throws meet at Drachman Stadium.
The four-time US Olympian, competing in her final season on the professional circuit, threw 207-5 (63.23m) in round 2 to take the win over good friend and fellow Tokyo Olympian Ariana Ince, who threw 200-8 (61.16m).
Washington State alum Brock Eager finished tenth in the hammer, as he threw 235-1 (71.67m).
In the men's discus, Lewis & Clark/Spokane alum Josh Syrotchen finished seventh, throwing a best of 200-4 (61.08m).
All three are scheduled to throw in Saturday's USATF Throws Festival here in Tucson.

In Walnut, California, Allie Buchalski of the Seattle based Brooks Beasts won the women's 5000 at the USATF Distance Classic at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College Thursday night.
Buchalski clocked 15:18.60 to secure a nearly 5-second win over Wu Ga He of China, who ran 15:23.57.
Seconds were the word for several runners with Washington ties at the USATF Distance Classic.
In the men's 800, Brannon Kidder of the Brooks Beasts finished second behind Brandon McBride of Canada, with Kidder stopping the watch at 1:47.64 to McBride's 1:47.39.
The women's 3000 steeplechase saw Washington alum Katie Rainsberger finish second behind Australia's Amy Cashin, with Cashin running 9:31.28 to Rainsberger's 9:33.23,
Tokyo Olympian Sam Tanner, who attended the University of Washington, was second in the men's 1500 to Great Britain's Neil Gourley, as Gourley ran 3:35.43 to Tanner's 3:35.61.
