Western Washington squads remain in the national top 15 in final regular season D2 poll...

Both Western Washington cross country teams remain in the nation's top 15 in the final regular season USTFCCCA national Division II coaches poll released Wednesday.

The Viking men (photo courtesy WWU Athletics), which finished second in the NCAA West Regional meet on Saturday in Billings, Montana, dropped one place to number ten, while West champion Chico State maintained its position at number 6.

The nation's top five men's teams are in order: Wingate, Colorado School of Mines, Grand Valley State, Adams State and West Texas A&M.

The Vikings are the only men's squad from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in the national top 30.


On the women's side, Western Washington (photo courtesy WWU Athletics), which also finished second in the West Regionals behind Chico State, remained at number 14, while Chico State stayed at number 13.

The nation's top five women's teams are in order: Adams State, Grand Valley State, Colorado School of Mines, Lewis, and UC-Colorado Springs.

Alaska-Fairbanks is the only other team from the GNAC ranked nationally, coming in at number 19.

The NCAA Division II championships will be contested on November 23rd in Sacramento, California.
