Link of the day...KING 5 piece on Bryan Clay...
Here's a link to a piece written by Allen Schauffler of KING 5 on reigning Olympic champion Bryan Clay (left/photo by Paul Merca), who opened up his 2011 season in New York at the Millrose Games with a third place finish in the multi-event challenge (shot put, 60 hurdles, high jump) behind Oregon grad Ashton Eaton, and current world outdoor decathlon champ Trey Hardee.
The USA has perhaps the best 1-2-3 punch in the decathlon between world champ Hardee, Olympic champ Clay, and rising star Eaton, who set the world record in the indoor heptathlon at last year's NCAA championships on the same weekend that Clay and Hardee went 1-2 at the world indoor championships in Doha, Qatar.
In Schauffler's piece, Clay talks about how the Hawaiian-born Clay, who lives in Southern California, calls Seattle his second home.
"My in-laws live right up the road here on Phinney Ridge, so we're down here at Green Lake jogging all the time. We're at the Lower Woodland track doing track workouts and things like that," said Bryan.
In fact, over the Christmas holidays, Clay posted on his Twitter account that he completed a sprint workout on the Lower Woodland track, which is cinder, in the rain and in running shoes, instead of track spikes. He also posted a few days later running a hill workout on 50th and Phinney.
