Joe Abbott wins again in Canadian National Track League finale in Victoria...
VICTORIA, British Columbia--Former USA junior national champion and Washington State University alum Joe Abbott (left/photo by Paul Merca) won his second 800 meter race of the week Friday night at the Victoria International Track Classic at Centennial Stadium, the final stop of the five-meet Canadian National Track League circuit.
Abbott was an easy winner, clocking 1:45.63, just slightly off his personal best of 1:45.35 set in winning Monday's Harry Jerome Track Classic in Burnaby.
The ex-Coug was nearly a second clear of the University of Oregon's NCAA 1500 meter champ Mac Fleet, who clocked 1:46.32.
Spokane native Britney Henry earned her second straight runner-up finish in the hammer, throwing 217-11 (66.42m), finishing behind Canada's Sultana Frizell's 226-0 (68.89m).

In Chula Vista, California, another Washington State alum, Blessing Ufodiama, finished fourth at the OTC 11 Pre-World track & field series triple jump competition at the Olympic Training Center.
Ufodiama jumped a best of 43-5 1/4 (13.24m) as former US national champion Amanda Smock took the win at 45-10 (13.97m).
Ufodiama, Smock, along with University Place resident Andrea Geubelle and Toni Smith are eligible to chase the world championships A & B standards, and have until July 20th to get the mark. Despite Geubelle winning the national title, she is not guaranteed a spot on the team unless she gets the mark.
