'Wizzo' wins 800 & leads 1-3 finish by Brooks Beasts in Karlstad...
KARLSTAD, Sweden--Coach Danny Mackey's Brooks Beasts had a strong showing at Tuesday's Folksam Grand Prix, led by Tacoma's Mark Wieczorek (left/photo by Paul Merca), who led a 1-3 finish by the Beasts in the men's 800.
Wieczorek won the 800 in a time of 1:46.16, with new teammate Cas Loxsom 3/10th of a second behind in 1:46.46.
Another new member of the Brooks Beasts squad, Riley Masters, finished seventh in the men's 3000, running 8:00.16, an outdoor personal best for the former All-American at the University of Maine, and the University of Oklahoma.
In the women's 1500, Tacoma's Brie Felnagle of adidas, who trains with the Beasts, was second in 4:12.66, just 3/100ths of a second behind Meraf Bahta of Sweden.
University of California alum Deborah Maier of the Beasts was ninth in 4:18.25.
The women's high jump saw former Washington State standout Ebba Jungmark finish third with a best of 5-10 1/2 (1.79m) as Isobel Pooley of Great Britain won with a jump of 6-2 1/4 (1.89m).
