WSU's Brock Eager throws the second-furthest mark in the hammer this season in Spokane...
In Spokane, Washington State’s Brock Eager (above/photo courtesy WSU Athletics) threw a Pac-12 conference leading mark of 224-11 (68.56m) to win the event at the Sam Adams Classic hosted by Whitworth University after the first day of competition.
Eager’s throw is currently the second best mark in NCAA Division I this season, pending the outcome of meets around the country this weekend.
In the series, he had four throws of at least 68 meters.
Central Washington’s HarLee Ortega leads the heptathlon competition, with a four event total of 2904 points.
Ortega started the day by running 15.44 in the 100 hurdles, then followed up with a clearance of 5-2.5 (1.59m) in the high jump. She then threw 35-7.75 (10.86m) in the shot put, and finished up with a time of 25.85 in the 200.
Isabel Clark of host Whitworth (2864 points), and Tulane Mpouli of Eastern Washington (2780 points) stand second and third at the break.

In San Diego, Seattle Pacific heptathletes Scout Cai, Renick Meyer and Kellie May find themselves in third, fifth, and seventh place in the Group C section of the Aztec Invitational.
Cai has a first day total of 2878 points, while Meyer is at 2827, and May has a four-event score of 2584, as Asia Smith of San Diego State is the first day leader at 3222 points.
Cai had her best placings in the high jump and shot put, placing fourth in the 14-athlete field. In the high jump, she cleared 5-4.25 (1.63m), and in the shot put, she threw 34-6.75 (10.53m).
From a point total perspective, she got her highest score on the day in the 200 meters, where she ran 26.08 for 790 points.
