USTFCCCA presents NCAA Division I and II honors for 2020 indoor season...

NEW ORLEANS--All-America honors for the 2020 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Under normal circumstances, the top eight finishers in each individual event or relay would be designated as first team All-America, and so on. However, with the cancellation of the championship, the NCAA Division I and II Executive Committee adopted the following criteria:

a) All listed athletes on the startlist for the anticipated event in individual events; and b) The four student-athletes per anticipated relay who produced the performance that was declared and accepted into their event. Those listed as alternates will not be recognized.

With that, there will not be a distinction of “first-team”, “second-team”, or “honorable mention” to these recognitions.

DIVISION I

The University of Washington had four men designated as All-Americans, while Washington State University had two men designated as All-Americans.

The quartet of Huskies were: Tanner Anderson in the 5000 meters, Jack Rowe in the 3000 meters, pole vaulter Chase Smith, and miler Mick Stanovsek.

The two Cougars earning All-America certificates were Emmanuel Wells in the 60 meters, and Sam Brixey in the 60 hurdles.

Richland native Larry Still, who transferred from Eastern Washington to Utah Valley, also received All-America honors in the pole vault.

On the women's side, the Huskies receiving All-America honors were: pole vaulter Olivia Gruver, 800 meter runner Carley Thomas (left/photo by Paul Merca), 3000 meter runners Katie Rainsberger, Melany Smart, and Allie Schadler; and pentathlete Hannah Rusnak.

Rainsberger, Schadler, Thomas, and Olivia Ribera also earned All-America honors in the distance medley relay.

Washington State's three All-Americans are: Leonie Reuter (high jump); Kreete Verlin (long jump); and, Charisma Taylor (triple jump.

University Place native Lexi Ellis of Oregon (triple jump) and Mountlake Terrace's Chinne Okoronkwo of Texas Tech (pole vault) also receive All-America certificates.
