WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Katie Nageotte sets outdoor PR & takes 2020 world lead in pole vault...
In Marietta, Georgia Saturday night, former Pullman resident Katie Nageotte (left/photo by Paul Merca) set an outdoor personal best at the American Track League #2 meet at Life University to take the victory and the 2020 world lead in the pole vault.
Nageotte, who lost two days earlier in Piedmont, South Carolina at 2018 world indoor champion Sandi Morris' meet at her parents' housing community, took the sole world lead with her winning jump of 15-10 (4.83m), two centimeters better than her jump of 15-9.25 Thursday.
After needing two tries to clear her opening height of 14-7.25 (4.45m), and a first attempt make at 14-11 (4.55m) to take the win from Oiselle's Megan Clark, Nageotte needed two tries to clear 15-5 (4.70m), before clearing her personal best of 15-10 (4.83m) on her second attempt.
Nageotte took three unsuccessful shots at a new all-time personal best of 16-1.75 (4.92m), one centimeter above her all time best of 16-1.25 (4.91m), set two years ago indoors in Albuquerque.
Her previous outdoor personal best of 15-9.75 (4.82m) was set last year in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Behind Clark in third place was University of Washington graduate Olivia Gruver, who cleared a 2020 outdoor season best of 14-3.25 (4.35m).

The highlight of the meet was the world leading mark in the men's shot put by Oregon native and defending Olympic champion Ryan Crouser, who threw a personal best 75-2 (22.91m).
That throw puts him in a tie for third on the world all-time list.
