EUGENE--
An hour before the start of the decathlon, the Seattle-based Brooks Beasts announced that Rider alum Teagan Schein-Becker (photo courtesy Brooks Running/Noah Hales) has signed a deal to join the team, and will make her debut this afternoon in the opening round of the women's 800 at 4:17 pm.

Teagan finished her collegiate career at Rider University holding multiple school records and top finishes in the 800m, 1500m and mile, where she won an Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) indoor and outdoor championships for the 2022-23 season.

Schein-Becker qualified for her first NCAA outdoor championship meet last month, and finished eleventh in the 1500 finals two weeks ago at Hayward Field.

“I’m thrilled to embark on this new journey with the incredible Brooks Beasts Track Club. I’m ready to chase greatness, fueled by a team that champions the dream. I am looking forward to continuing my journey and starting this next chapter,” said the newest Beast in a statement from the company

"Teagan is a rising star whose track record of improvement and strong racing makes for an exciting addition to our women's roster,” said Derek Lactaoen, Brooks Beasts Marketing Manager. “She’s a great teammate who can make a big impact with the Beasts and contribute to our growth. We couldn’t be happier to have her first race in the Beasts kit be at the Olympic Trials."

In other news, USATF announced that the start of the evening session for Day 1 of the Trials will begin at 3:06 instead of 3:20.

Also, 2016 Olympic 1500 meter champion Matthew Centrowitz, who was on Andy & Maurica Powell's first staff at the University of Washington as a volunteer assistant coach in the 2018-19 season, has withdrawn from the meet. He was scheduled to run in the first round of the 1500m this afternoon at 5.22 pm local time.

Centrowitz, an Oregon alum who ran under Powell, had previously said that 2024 was going to be his final season.  He had been dealing with various injuries over the last several seasons.
