Within the last hour, Ken Goe of the Oregonian posted on their web site that Kara Goucher (left/photo by Paul Merca), the 2007 world championships bronze medalist in the 10000 has left the Beaverton based Nike Oregon Project.
According to a text Goe received from Nike Oregon Project coach Alberto Salazar, “We can confirm that Kara Goucher has decided to make a change in coaches. We wish her all the best and continued success as an all-time great distance runner.'
Over the last several days, her departure was the subject of speculation, notably on the popular running site LetsRun.com.
After taking a maternity leave last year, she finished fifth in the Boston Marathon, and was 13th in the 10000 at the IAAF world championships in Daegu.
