Kara Goucher now is a part of the Oregon TC Elite/Portland...
After running without a coach for almost three weeks, Kara Goucher (left/photo by Paul Merca) will continue training on the Nike campus, as she's aligned herself with Jerry Schumacher's Oregon TC group.
In a post on her blog, Goucher said that she will run under Schumacher's tutelage, citing the fact that she needed "a little bit more accountability and really need people to run with."
Goucher will have as training partners Shalane Flanagan and Lisa Uhl.
There was a hint of this union coming together when Flanagan and Goucher were pictured together with marathon legend Joan Benoit Samuelson at an event in conjunction with the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco last week.
Commenting on her new situation, and the Flanagan/Uhl dynamics, Goucher said, "Instead of feeling territorial or worried that I would disrupt their great dynamic, they have supported and encouraged me. It is like being in this sisterhood where you are dedicated to getting the best out of each other. I know that this is the best situation I could be in and I feel so blessed to have a great coach, group, and two women to work with."
