KNOXVILLE, Tennessee—Recent Washington State University graduate Alissa Brooks-Johnson (above/photo courtesy USA Track & Field) moved up three places to finish fourth in the heptathlon in her international debut at the Thorpe Cup multi-events dual meet between Germany and the USA Saturday at Tom Black Track on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
Brooks-Johnson, who ended the first day of competition with a four-event score of 3461 points, got rolling with a mark in the long jump of 19-0.5 (5.80m).
The three-time Pac-12 heptathlon champ for the Cougars from Doty then threw the javelin 137-8 (41.96m), then finished the two days of competition with a 2:13.60 clocking in the 800, for a final score of 5868 points.
Sophie Weissenberg of Germany maintained her first day lead to win the overall competition with 6165 points.
Lindsay Schwartz was the top American with 6050 points, followed by teammate Allison Reaser at 5910, then Brooks-Johnson.
