Brooks Beasts aim for 4 x 1 mile world best at Norbert Sander Invitational in New York Saturday...

In addition to the action in Seattle at the UW Invitational this weekend, a number of pros from the state are headed to the East Coast for a pair of meets.

Washington alum Izaic Yorks (left/photo courtesy Brooks Running), along with teammates Brannon Kidder, Henry Wynne, and David Ribich, head to New York for the Dr. Norbert Sander Invitational at the Armory Saturday.

The foursome will race a team from the Hoka One One NJ/NY Track Club in a 4 x 1 mile race, with the goal to take down the 4 x 1 mile relay world best of 16:12.81 set by the Hoka One One NJ?NY squad two years ago.

All four members of the Beasts heading to New York have personal bests under 4 minutes, with first year pro Ribich having the slowest personal best at 3:58.09.

“Going for this world record highlights the talent and focus of the Beasts right now as well as the true team approach we’re taking as we look forward to this,” said Brooks Beasts Head Coach Danny Mackey. All four of our men will have to be ready at the same time to get this done; we’re looking good and I know the athletes will be thinking of each other when the pain sets in and they need to start push themselves to another level”

The 4x1 mile race gets underway at 4pm eastern (1 pm Pacific) and can be streamed on USATF.tv ($).

In addition to the 4 x 1 mile race at the Dr. Norbert Sander Invitational, Tacoma native Marcus Chambers will run the 300m dash, while Washington alums Eleanor Fulton and Amy-Eloise Neale are entered in the women’s 3000.

This marks Neale’s first indoor race as a pro, as she competes for Reebok Boston.

In Roxbury, Massachusetts, the IAAF World Indoor Tour kicks off with the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix at the Reggie Lewis Center.

University of Washington volunteer assistant coach Sam Prakel is entered in the men’s mile, where he’ll face the man he paced to the world’s fastest time so far this season, Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha of the Nike Oregon Project, who ran 3:52.61 at the UW Indoor Preview.

Oregon alum Prakel took Kejelcha to 1000m in 2:26 to set up the fastest mile ever run that early in a calendar year.

Katie Mackey of the Brooks Beasts is entered in the women’s 5000 meters, where she’ll face Olympic 1500m medalist Jenny Simpson, and Germany’s Konstanze Klosterhöfen of the Nike Oregon Project.

In the women’s pole vault, Pullman’s Katie Nageotte will try to avenge a count back loss suffered at last week’s National Pole Vault Summit in Reno to world and Olympic champ Katerina Stefanidi.

Also in the field is West Seattle HS senior Chloe Cunliffe, who cleared 14 feet (4.27m) at last week’s elite high school section of the National Pole Vault Summit to set yet another Washington state all-time indoor record.

Cunliffe, the Washington State University commit, will take aim at the national high school indoor record of 14-5.25 (4.40m).

NBCSN will show the meet live from 2 to 4 pm, Pacific time.
