SPU's Dania Holmberg earns All-America honors with 21st place finish at NCAA D2 champs...
SACRAMENTO, California--Seattle Pacific's Dania Holmberg (left/photo courtesy Seattle Pacific University) earned All-America honors with her 21st place finish in the women's 6k race at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships at the Arcade Creek Golf Course at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex Saturday.
Holmberg ran 20:49, as Stephanie Cotter of Adams State ran 19:16, leading three other teammates inside the top ten to give them the team title with 22 points.
Behind Holmberg was Kate Lilly in 51st (21:11), followed by Katherine Walter in 104th (21:43), Sedona McNerney in 159th (22:16), and Elizabeth Thompson in 167th (22;24), giving the Falcons 327 points, and a 12th place finish.
Western Washington finished 16th with 388 points, led by Tovah Swartz-Ireland who was 86th in 21:32.
Behind her were Sophia Galvez in 93rd (21:37), Tracy Melville in 126th (21:55), Aundrea Koger in 132nd (21:58), and Rebecca Lehman in 163rd (22:19).
In the men's 10k race, the Vikings finished 22nd with 511 points, led by Edward Kiolbasa in 69th place in 31:13.
Behind him were Deyago Peraza in 87th (31:28), James Jasperson in 117th (31:44), Eric Hamel in 128th (31:51), and Liam Cossette in 196th (32:39).
Ezra Mutai of American International won the overall title in 29:32, while Colorado Mines won the team championship with 57 points.
