A CONVERSATION WITH: 2016 US Olympian Andrea Geubelle Norris...

Finally had a chance to catch up with University Place native and 2016 US Olympian Andrea Geubelle Norris (left/photo by Paul Merca) from her home in Lawrence, Kansas, where the University of Kansas alum is working for her alma mater in the athletic department, while training for a shot at a second Olympic team in the triple jump.

Geubelle Norris, who won an NCAA indoor long/triple jump double in 2013 in Nampa, Idaho, and a USA national outdoor title that season, talked about how her training is going, despite being quarantined.

The former Washington state high school champion from Curtis HS also talked about what meets she had planned leading up to the US Olympic Trials before the postponement of the Olympics to 2021, as well as her thoughts on a possible outdoor season in 2020, assuming there is indeed competition later this year.

Andrea also talked in depth about the influence of husband Trey, who is from the Pacific Northwest, how she's dealt with the fact that she hasn't had a shoe and/or apparel sponsorship during her professional career, and also about how long she may continue competing at this level.
