MOUNTAIN VIEW, California--Track & Field News magazine has named University of Washington senior pole vaulter Olivia Gruver (left/photo by Paul Merca) as its women's collegiate indoor athlete of the year.

Gruver, a two-time NCAA outdoor champion in the pole vault while at Kentucky before transferring to the UW when coach Toby Stevenson was named associate head coach of the Huskies, was undefeated against collegians during the indoor season, with her only loss being a third place finish at the Toyota USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, where she cleared 15-5 (4.70m), where she attained the Olympic qualifying standard.

In her four meets during the indoor season, the lowest bar that she cleared was 14-7.25 (4.45m) at the MPSF Indoor Championships.

She opened the 2020 indoor season by setting a Dempsey Indoor facility record at the UW Preview, clearing 15-3.5 (4.66m) on January 18th.

The magazine's honorable mentions went to Penn's Nia Akins (800m), Colorado's Dani Jones (1500/mile), and LSU's Tonea Marshall (60 hurdles).

Gruver is also a finalist for the USTFCCCA's women's Division I field event athlete of the 2020 indoor season, along with Tyra Gittens of Texas A&M and Georgia's Jasmine Moore.
