Sam Prakel third at Sir Walter Miler...
RALEIGH, North Carolina--Seattle resident Sam Prakel (Paul Merca photo) finished third at the Sir Walter Miler race, contested at Cardinal Gibbons HS in Raleigh Friday night.
Prakel ran 3:55.33, as Geordie Beamish of New Zealand won the race in 3:54.92, followed by Vince Ciattei of the Nike Oregon TC in 3:55.28.
Waleed Suliman, the newest member of the Brooks Beasts, finished sixth in 3:56.78, while Washington alum Mick Stanovsek was 12th in 4:05.68.
Washington alum Amy-Eloise Markovc, who returned to the United States a few days after competing in the semis of the women's 5000 at the Tokyo Olympics, finished fourth in 4:27.13, as Markovc's Reebok Boston teammate Josette Norris won in 4:25.92.
Fellow Husky alum Eleanor Fulton was eighth in 4:29.46, and Seattle resident and UW volunteer coach Alli Cash, who recently signed with Asics, was 17th in 4:36.32.
