Woodinville's Olivia Markezich sets personal best in fourth place finish at Meeting de Paris...

PARIS--
In her Wanda Diamond League racing debut, Woodinville native Olivia Markezich  (right/Paul Merca photo) set a personal best in a fourth place effort at Sunday's Meeting de Paris at the Stade Charléty.

Markezich, who attended the Bear Creek School before competing collegiately at Notre Dame, where she won the NCAA steeple crown last year, finished in a time of 9:14.67, exactly 2/10ths of a second faster than her time in the finals of the US Olympic Trials in Eugene.

Winfred Yavi of Burundi won the race in a time of 9:03.68, while Alice Finot of France finished second in a national record 9:05.01.

Former Princeton and University of San Francisco standout Lizzie Bird of Great Britain was third in 9:09.07.

The highlights of the Meeting de Paris, the eighth stop on the season-long Wanda Diamond League tour, were two world records. The first was set in the women's high jump by Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine, who broke the previous record of 6-10.25 (2.09m) set by Stefka Kostadinova in 1987 by clearing 6-10.75 (2.10m) on her first attempt.

The other world record performance came in the women's 1500, as Kenya's Faith Kipyegon ran 3:49.04 to beat her own world record of 3:49.11 set last year in Florence.

Oregon alum Jessica Hull set an Oceania and Australian record in finishing second in 3:50.83.

The race saw twelve women break 4 minutes.

The Wanda Diamond League circuit resumes on Friday with the Herculis Meeting in Monaco on Friday.
