Sophie O'Sullivan entered in Saturday's Merrie Mile road race in Honolulu...

While ten University of Washington distance runners will open the 2025 indoor track and field season Saturday at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University, UW senior Sophie O'Sullivan (Paul Merca photo) will run a road mile instead in Honolulu at the Kalakaua Merrie Mile in conjunction with Sunday's Honolulu Marathon.

O'Sullivan, a Paris Olympian at 1500 meters who is competing unattached, will run against a pro field, headlined by US Olympian Nikki Hiltz.

In this unique event, the women will get a 32-second head start over the men, with prize money paid based on the combined finish order of men and women.

The elite race is scheduled for 9:30 am Pacific/7:30 am Hawaii time.  The race will be streamed on YouTube via this link.

The miles begin at 7:50 am Pacific, while the featured 3000s and 5000s begin at 11:05 am Pacific (3000) and 1:10 pm Pacific (5000).
