Carly Dockendorf finishes second at Canadian nationals...

TORONTO, Ontario--Former University of Washington pole vaulter Carly Dockendorf (left/photo courtesy University of Washington) finished second in her event as the Canadian national track & field championships concluded Saturday at the Varsity Centre on the campus of the University of Toronto.

Dockendorf, currently the pole vault coach at Seattle Pacific University, cleared 13-9 1/4 (4.20m), the same height as winner Gabrielle Duclos-Lasnier, but had more misses than Duclos-Lasnier.

Ryan Vu, the UW grad who won the Pac-10 men's pole vault title in May, finished fifth with a jump of 15-11 (4.85m), as Jason Wurster of the University of Toronto TC won with a mark of 17-4 1/2 (5.30m).

Defending Canadian national javelin champ Kyle Nielsen placed third in his specialty, as he only threw 235-2 (71.68m). Curtis Moss of BC Athletics wrested the title from Nielsen with a winning toss of 245-3 (74.76m).
