FALMOUTH, MA--Auburn/Riverside HS alum Jordan McNamara (left/photo courtesy New Balance Falmouth Road Race) set yet another personal best in winning the Falmouth Mile Saturday, held in conjunction with Sunday's New Balance Falmouth Road Race.
With a large crowd lining the track at Falmouth High School, McNamara, who now resides in Eugene as a member of the Oregon Track Club Elite used a sprint finish to dash past Jeff See and former Oregon teammate AJ Acosta to take home the victory in a time of 3:54.89, eclipsing his previous personal best of 3:56.82, set last month in Dublin, Ireland.
McNamara, who earned $2000 for the win and another $1000 for breaking 4 minutes, led ten men across the line under 4 minutes, the most in the USA this season, with the exception of the Nike Prefontaine Classic, where 20 men turned the trick.
Commenting on his Twitter page after the race, McNamara said, "I keep thinking I've hit my limits but the gun goes off again, and I finish with a new perception of what is possible. More to come! Always."
