Martin Bingisser wins third straight Swiss national hammer title in a new PR...

BASEL, Switzerland--University of Washington alum Martin Bingisser (left/photo courtesy mbingisser.com) won yet another national title as the Swiss championships got underway.

Most significantly, Bingisser, a graduate of Bellevue's Interlake High School threw a new personal best of 222-9 (67.90m) on his first attempt, eclipsing his previous PR of 222-1 (67.70m) to win his third straight Swiss national title.

Before the meet, Bingisser, who was one of the biggest favorites to win a national title, said on his web site that he wanted to win by at least 20 meters.

With the second and third place finishers displaced (Germany's Bjorn Kotteritzsch, and Richard Bot of the Netherlands), the next Swiss competitor was 19.90 meters behind the Husky alum.
