SEATTLE--Washington State's four-time Pac-10, three time NCAA, and reigning USA 400 hurdles champion Jeshua Anderson (left, with ROOT Sports' Jen Mueller/photo by Paul Merca), along with University of Washington commit Maddie Meyers from Northwest School, represented the local track and field community at Wednesday night's Sports Star of the Year show at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle.

As Meyers and Anderson walked through the red carpet to join many of the area's elite professional and amateur athletes, both were gracious enough to talk to paulmerca.blogspot.com about their outstanding 2011 seasons, and what 2012 has in store for them.

Gonzaga basketball standout Courtney Vandersloot won the Female Sports Star honors, while University of Washington running back Chris Polk took the male honors.

Seattle Sounders FC goalie Kasey Keller won the Professional Sports Star of the Year award.
