Seattle Pacific's Scout Cai and Central Washington's Kodiak Landis get GNAC weekly AOW award...

PORTLAND—Seattle Pacific’s Scout Cai (left/photo by Paul Merca) and Central Washington’s Kodiak Landis were named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Field event athletes of the week for the week ending January 27th, for their outstanding performances at the UW Invitational this past Friday and Saturday.

Cai earned the women’s field award after placing third in the pentathlon at the UW Invitational. Competing for the first time this season, Cai finished with 3,709 points, a mark that’s number 2 in Division II this season and number 4 on the GNAC all-time list. She set personal bests in four of the five individual events and her mark of 18 feet, 3 inches (5.56m), in the long jump is the GNAC’s leading mark.

Landis earned the men’s field award after he won the heptathlon at the UW Invitational with a score of 5,407 points. The total automatically qualifies Landis for the NCAA Championships, ranks as the fourth-best mark in Division II this season and improved his number 3 mark on the GNAC all-time List. Landis won four of the discipline’s seven events: the shot put, pole vault, long jump and the 60 meters.

This marks the second time Landis has garnered GNAC recognition this season. He was named the field athlete of the week in December for his performance at the EWU Candy Cane Open.

Western Oregon’s David Ribich and Olivia Woods were named the GNAC men’s and women’s track athletes of the week for their performances at the UW Invitational last weekend.
