Oregon's Pac-12 1500m champ Sam Prakel to become newest member of Seattle elite track & field community...

In an Instagram post, recent University of Oregon grad Sam Prakel (left/photo by Paul Merca) announced that he has signed a pro contract to compete for adidas.

Additionally, Prakel will move to Seattle and become the newest member of the elite track & field community, while continuing to train under University of Washington head coach Andy Powell, who coached him at Oregon.

At Oregon, the native of Versailles, Ohio earned five All-America honors, and won the Pac-12 title in the 1500 last May at Stanford.

He finished fifth in the 1500 meters at the NCAA outdoor championships in Eugene, and was third in the mile at the NCAA indoor title meet in March.

He will be represented by the Total Sports US agency.
