Husky men stay at number 2, while UW women drop two to number 7 in latest USTFCCCA rankings...

NEW ORLEANS--
In the latest USTFCCCA Division I National Indoor Track & Field Rating indexes, released Monday afternoon, the Washington men's team remains at number 2, while the Husky women's team drops two spots to number seven.

Jayden White (Paul Merca photo) and Nathan Green provided the biggest boost to the Huskies over the weekend.

White, who extended his UW school record to 73-8.25 (22.47m) in the weight throw, now sits as the number 7 thrower in NCAA Division I, while Green's run in the 800 of 1:46.99 puts him at number 11 on the NCAA D1 descending order list with two full weekends left in the regular indoor season.

The top five men's teams are in order: Arkansas, Washington, Texas Tech, Texas and Tennessee.

Other teams from the Pac-12 ranked in the USTFCCCA top 25 include number 10 USC, number 24 Stanford, and number 25 Oregon.

At last weekend's Husky Classic, Sophie O'Sullivan in the mile (4:33.24), and Makayla Kelby's school record shot put toss of 55-10.5 (17.03m) were the only new marks from the Husky Classic that landed in the national top 20.

O'Sullivan is number 15 in the mile, while Kelby stands at number 18 in the shot put.

While the men's rankings stayed relatively the same, there was some movement in the women's top five.

The top five women's teams in NCAA Division I are in order: Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Oregon, and Alabama.

Stanford at number 11, and USC at 16 are the only other women's teams from the Pac-12 ranked in the top 25.

The Washington men's squad is expected to run a distance medley relay Friday at the Arkansas Qualifier meet on Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The USTFCCCA track and field rating index is comprised of marks reported to the TFRRS site. This objective list is compiled solely of current qualifying marks from the 2023 indoor track & field season.
